It is time for spring and flowers, so how about a new clothespin game where you have to build the flower petal by petal and use the clothespin to hold the petals onto the flower.

There are several different ways to play the game.  The most simple way is to shoot the flat marble down the grid and land on a square.  The number in the square tells you how many flower petals you can put on your flower.  If you land on a bee, then you either lose a turn or lose a flower petal.  There are three grids.  One with just numbers, one with letters, and one with words.  You can have the kids practice writing their letters when they land in the square, or have them practice words when they land in the square.

Another way to play with the flower petals is kind of like go fish.  You mix up the petals and deal out 5 cards to everyone.  You then have to ask a specific person if they have a particular color and number (there are numbers on the petals).  If they don’t have your card then you have to draw one from the upside down pile in the center of the table.  Continue around the table having people complete whole flowers.

The final way that you can play is kind of like UNO.  You can deal the cards to everyone and then when you put a card down, it either has to match number or color.  The winner is the person with no more flower petals.  To play this one, you may want to make two copies of each one in order to have plenty of cards.
