There is a simple trick that school therapists and teachers use a lot for kids who have trouble sitting still. It is to put some Thera-Band
stretched around a chair’s legs so that the student can push on it while sitting in their chair. It can help a child who has to be moving much of the time. The child can push on it with their feet so that they are moving while sitting at their desk doing work.

  1. I used something similar this year with a student. Although I placed it on the front legs of a student desk. It did give him something to do with his feet.

  2. This is a great idea! Therapy bands come is different levels of resistance. How “strong” of a band should I use for this purpose? Thanks!

    1. I think that the thera tubing lasts longer, so I would go with it, although I generally just use what I have available. I have not really tested out different strengths to see which is best though.
